MARCH - JULY 2022
INHERENT  VICE

Personal Satement:
This project was an endeavor to use actively degrading material and stabilize it, as well as re-contextualizing it for envisioned use within the home space. A subversion of the normally inaccessible museum objects. The choice to make it a lamp comes from the nature of the origin material being from the Gilded Age, and ostenatious in design.  The material being turned into a lamp provided a route to stabilize and highlight the degradation of the material in a functional object.

Process:
Everything was photographed extensively and then completely stripped apart in sections.
Fabrics were then attached (with backing pabels) to lamp frame by hand.
Trim and beading were added by hand to frame afterwards.
Beading trim originates from museum storage.
